That's it!!

Boa Noite a todos!!

Escrevo do aeroporto de Manaus: estamos aguardando nosso vôo (que é de madrugada), então enquanto isso vou contar para vocês sobre nossos fantásticos dias a bordo dos TRES Barcos, que nos levaram nos últimos cinco dias de viagem para lugares maravilhosos e inimagináveis no meio da selva amazônica. Foi a realização de um sonho para todos!!!

Da última vez que escrevi, estávamos em Manaus nos preparando para o inicio de nossa grande aventura! 10 km navegando em nossa nova casa (barco) abaixo pelo Rio Negro, chegamos ao espetacular encontro das Águas, que com certeza é um fenômeno espetacular! Chamo o barco de casa, pois ficamos literalmente 5 dias (4 noites) morando no barco: todas as refeições, banho e ate mesmo dormir...no barco!!

Paramos em seguida no Parque Ecológico January, onde encontramos o lago das "vitórias-régias", planta também conhecida como a Rainha dos Lagos. Ela é lindíssima e é o símbolo da Amazônia. À noite, dormimos nas redes. Confesso que a primeira noite é realmente complicada para quem não tem esse costume. Você não encontra posição, vira para lá e para cá, troca de lado, vira de costas, escuta musica, tenta ler um livro, enfim...tenta de tudo para conseguir dormir. Mas quando você acorda, você se vê no meio (LITERALMENTE) da selva Amazônica, rodeado de toda a beleza natural e sons da natureza...é inexplicável!!

 

Na sexta-feira fizemos o curso de sobrevivência na selva! Acordamos cedo, dividimos o grupo em 2 menores e começamos nossa caminhada pela Selva com instrutores do Exército. Durante o dia aprendemos com eles como sobreviver; fazer fogo, armadilhas, buscar comida e água: todos sobreviveram!!!! À tarde, NADAMOS COM OS BOTOS COR DE ROSA!!! Todos tiraram muitas fotos, filmaram e ficaram bastante animados!!! Com certeza uma experiência única!!!

No Sábado acordamos 5 da manhã para sair de canoa para ver o nascer do sol: não sei explicar para vocês quão emocionante isso é. De repente, você se vê no meio da Amazônia, com uma imensidão de água por todos os lados. Você lá, “sozinho”, no meio desse lugar tão maravilhoso e completamente perdido nos seus pensamentos: é perfeito!! Depois, após um delicioso café da manhã visitamos uma comunidade indígena chamada Acajatuba!! Lá aprendemos mais sobre a vida dos moradores, distribuímos presentes para as crianças e jogamos Vôlei com eles!! Após o jantar, saímos em canoas para observar a vida noturna da Amazônia: pegamos jacarés e tivemos um tempo de silêncio no meio do Rio Negro, totalmente no escuro para refletir, em silêncio, sobre o que podemos fazer agora e no futuro para preservar esse lugar tão maravilhoso!!

Ontem a noite, a ultima da viagem, tivemos um maravilhoso luau de encerramento em uma prainha, com direito a toda uma infra-estrutura montada no meio do nada, churrasco e muita musica e dança!!!

Hoje começamos nossa jornada de volta para cá, onde agora a noite e durante a madrugada todos vão pegar vôo para suas cidades anfitriãs!

Gostaria de agradecer a todos os participantes da viagem: meninas do meu barco, vou sentir saudade dos nossos papos a noite, nossas historias de terror, enfim...!!!! (A propósito...te ODEIO< Oriana...KKKK) Ao nosso Chaperone Edgar do Distrito 4760, muito obrigada por tudo! Gostaria de agradecer também ao Rotary, pela oportunidade que nos dá de ter essa missão tão prazerosa, que é mostrar nosso BRASIL maravilhoso para os estudantes!

Good Evening all!

I write now from Manaus airport: we are waiting our flight back home (which is 3Am)! So now I have time to write you about our fantastic days at our THREE Boats, which took us the last 5 days to incredible and unimaginable places inside the Amazon jungle. It was a “dream come true” for all of us!!

The last time I wrote, we were in Manaus leaving on boat for the beginning of our big adventure. After floating 10 km down the Negro River at our house (boat), we arrived at the spectacular meeting of the Waters: for sure it is a beautiful phenomenon! I call the boat as HOUSE because we stays literally 5 days (4 nights) living on a boat: all meals, shower and even sleep…at the boat! We stopped next at January Ecological Park, where we found the "Vitorias-Régias" Lake, a plant also known as the Queen of the Lakes. This plant is really beautiful and it is the symbol of the Amazon! At night, we slept on hammocks. I have to confess that the first night for who is not used to sleep like this is really uncomfortable. You do not find position to sleep; try to turn the side, to change position, listen some music, read a book, make everything to try to sleep! But when you wake up, you see that YOU LITERALLY sleep surrounded by the sounds of nature, and it makes everything worth!!!

On Friday we had the so awaited Survival course in the jungle! We woke up early and divided the group into two smaller groups, and started our trek with the company of the army reserves through the forest. During the day we learned how to survive in the forest; make fire, shelters, and find food and water! Everybody survived!!! In the afternoon we went to swim with the Pink “dolphins”!! All students were really excited, took a lot of picture and make some videos of it!! For sure, a unique experience!!!

On Saturday we woke up 5 am and pick up canoes to see the sunrise: I can not explain to you how exciting this is. Suddenly, you find yourself in the middle of the Amazon, with a multitude of water on all sides. You are there, “alone” in the middle of this wonderful place and completely lost in your thoughts: it’s just wordless!! Then, after a delicious breakfast we went to an Indian community called Acajatuba! There we understood a little more about their daily life! The students gave gifts to the community children and we also played Volley with them!! At night after a delicious dinner, we picked up small canoes to see the Amazon nightlife!! We saw and touched some alligators and had a quiet time in the middle of Negro River, totally in the dark to reflect in silence on what we can do now and in future to preserve this wonderful place!

Yesterday night, the last of the trip, we had a fantastic Luau in a small beach with all the infra structure. We had barbecue, light and a lot of music and dance!!

Today we started our journey back here at our “floating house”, where everybody will take the flights back to their host towns!

I would like to really thank all the students for the nice trip: girls, I will miss our late and LONG talks about everything, specially horror stories …! (By the way, I HATE you, Oriana…LOL) I would also like to thank our Chaperone Edgar (District 4760), for being great. And of course, I want to thank Rotary International, for the opportunity that we have to be in such an enjoyable mission, which is to show our wonderful BRAZIL to the exchange students!
